“The title of my latest exhibition, "Art is DESIGN", stems from a provocative question that has been gnawing at me for some time: can design become art and strike a chord with the soul? Or is it destined to remain a form of innovative creativity, yet one that is intrinsically cold?
For decades, we have viewed design as the realm of functionality and logic that responds to a need, leaving the territory of pure, unbridled emotion to art. Today, however, this boundary is blurring. Contemporary innovation often captivates us with its geometric perfection and the ingenuity of its materials, but it risks remaining cold, distant – a silent reflection of technique.
The real challenge, therefore, is to infuse the ‘warmth’ of human experience into a structured form. When an object ceases to be merely a tool and begins to speak to our innermost selves, a metamorphosis takes place: the rationality of the design is imbued with poetry.
This exhibition explores precisely this fine line. The selected pieces do not seek to provide ready-made answers, but rather to investigate a short-circuit: to demonstrate that even shaped matter can defy its own technical nature to become an emotional mirror, capable of evoking wonder, nostalgia or unease.
